About Business & Rural Solutions

Business & Rural Solutions (BRS) is a leading not-for-profit organisation focused on being the preferred provider of valuable support to rural and small businesses and their communities. Commencing in 1999, we have continuously partnered with local, state and federal government and philanthropic bodies to undertake proactive service delivery that empowers the rural and small business sectors.

Programs we currently deliver on behalf of the Australian Government and Queensland Government include:

  • Rural Financial Counselling Service (RFCS) Program
  • Small Business Financial Counselling Service (SBFCS) Program
  • Business Wellness Coaching (BWC) Program
  • Farm Business Resilience Planning (FBRP) Program
  • Industry Recovery and Resilience (IRR) Program
  • Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangement (DRFA) Programs.

In addition, we have previously delivered the Regional Small Business Support Program and other drought and natural disaster support initiatives, as well as targeted grant funding. Grant programs include household and individual support and also small business advice funding.

Key features of our organisation

Robust governance

Our highly experienced skills-based Board possess expertise in public administration, law, senior management, accountancy, advocacy as well as rural and natural resource management. Committed to robust governance, our Board oversees the appropriate delivery of services.

Benevolent institution

We are a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC). We hold public benevolent institution (PBI) status alongside deductible gift recipient status, evidence of our commitment to providing support that empowers rural and small business owners.

Our team

Our people, embedded in the communities we support, are our most valuable asset. We are committed to supporting our people via training and skills development so that you can have confidence in the quality of the service delivery undertaken.

End-to-end delivery

As an established provider we understand the requirements of end-to-end service delivery. From program design and planning to recruitment, onboarding and implementation, our team have the skills to translate your policy objectives into person-to-person service delivery.

Tax concessions

BRS is exempt from income tax and payroll tax. Additionally we hold a fringe benefits tax (FBT) concession and a goods and services tax (GST) concession. This means that 100% of the funding provided to us is directed to service delivery.

Leadership

Maintaining a permanent Chief Executive Officer, Operations Team and Communications Team as well as Program/Service Leaders, we are dedicated to ensuring the professional delivery of your program in line with your objectives.

Longevity

We have consistently grown, expanded and evolved our service delivery for more than 25 years. Currently represented by a team of more than 50 personnel, we have demonstrated our capability and enthusiasm to scale up and meet the requirements of Programs Owners and clients alike.

Impact

Our impact is best measured by nearly 17,000 clients who have received positive support from BRS since 1999. Supporting all industries and locations from metro CBD to isolated rural communities, BRS has the skills, experience and network to reach the recipients of your initiative.
